Mechanical Properties
PC-CF40 is a high performance polycarbonate based composite reinforced with 40% carbon fiber, delivering exceptional stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability compared to unreinforced PC and lower CF content variants. The increased carbon fiber content further enhances mechanical durability, making it suitable for structural and extreme performance applications.
Tensile Strength: ≥ 140 MPa
Flexural Strength: ≥ 200 MPa
Impact Strength: ≥ 11.0 kJ/m²
With 40% carbon fiber reinforcement, PC-CF40 provides even greater mechanical strength, superior wear resistance, and improved load bearing capacity, making it an excellent choice for high-stress applications.
Thermal and Chemical Resistance
PC-CF40 maintains the excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance of polycarbonate while benefiting from the increased rigidity and heat resistance provided by carbon fiber reinforcement.
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): Approx. 180°C
Long-Term Service Temperature: Up to 170°C
Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to oils, weak acids, and solvents, but sensitive to strong alkalies and certain hydrocarbons
PC-CF40 ensures long-term stability in high temperature and chemically demanding environments, making it ideal for extreme performance applications.
Wear Resistance and Processing
With 40% carbon fiber content, PC-CF40 offers exceptional wear resistance and significantly reduced friction, making it ideal for applications exposed to high mechanical stress, sliding contact, and repetitive movement.
Wear Resistance: Further improved compared to lower CF content grades and unreinforced PC
Processing Methods: Injection molding, extrusion (reinforced tooling required)
Due to the higher carbon fiber content, PC CF40 requires reinforced molds and optimized processing parameters to achieve the best manufacturing results.
Environmental Adaptability
PC-CF40 demonstrates very low moisture absorption and outstanding dimensional stability, ensuring consistent performance under variable environmental conditions.
Water Absorption: Very low, minimizing swelling and degradation in humid environments
Dimensional Stability: Exceptional, with minimal expansion or contraction under temperature and humidity fluctuations
Applications
PC-CF40 is a high strength, carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate, ideal for applications demanding maximum mechanical performance, dimensional stability, and impact resistance. Its low moisture absorption and enhanced stiffness make it a strong choice for structural and industrial applications.
Automotive
PC-CF40 is widely used in the automotive industry, where lightweight, high strength materials enhance fuel efficiency and durability. It is suitable for:
Structural components requiring maximum mechanical strength and stiffness
Brackets and supports exposed to high stress and temperature variations
Interior trim and housings requiring exceptional rigidity and dimensional stability
