Mechanical Properties
PA6-LCF20 is a high performance polyamide 6 (PA6) composite reinforced with 20% long carbon fiber (LCF), offering a substantial improvement in mechanical strength, rigidity, and impact resistance compared to both unreinforced PA6 and short fiber reinforced variants. The long carbon fibers provide efficient load transfer, high fatigue strength, and dimensional precision, making PA6-LCF20 well suited for demanding semi-structural and structural applications.
Tensile Strength: ≥ 130 MPa
Flexural Strength: ≥ 190 MPa
Impact Strength: ≥ 12 kJ/m²
Thanks to its high LCF content, PA6-LCF20 provides an ideal balance of high stiffness and durability under mechanical shock, dynamic loading, and vibration exposure.
Thermal and Chemical Resistance
PA6-LCF20 exhibits superior thermal resistance and long term dimensional integrity under elevated temperatures and stress conditions.
Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): Approx. 140°C
Long Term Service Temperature: Up to 125°C
Chemical Resistance: Excellent against oils, greases, fuels, and weak acids; moderate resistance to alkalis; not recommended for strong acids or oxidizing agents
This material retains mechanical stability in thermally and chemically challenging environments, such as under the hood automotive and industrial machinery.
Wear Resistance and Processing
The integration of 20% long carbon fibers significantly enhances surface wear performance, fatigue endurance, and structural reliability over time.
Wear Resistance: High suitable for high friction or load cycling applications
Processing Methods: Injection molding (with long fiber dosing systems), compression molding
Processing Notes: Fiber length preservation is essential; use low shear mixing and hardened tooling to ensure optimal part performance.
Environmental Adaptability
PA6-LCF20 maintains low moisture absorption and excellent dimensional control in fluctuating thermal or humid environments.
Water Absorption: Significantly lower than standard PA6
Dimensional Stability: Outstanding, even under moisture exposure or thermal cycling
Applications
PA6-LCF20 is engineered for lightweight structural components where high mechanical strength, thermal resistance, and environmental durability are required. It is ideal for:
Automotive Applications:
Structural brackets and engine bay components
Lightweight powertrain carriers and mountings
Interior and exterior reinforcements
Industrial Applications:
Load bearing housings and structural machine parts
Robotics and automation assemblies subject to repeated stress
